Goderich

July 20 to July 23

I had been to Goderich a couple of times on business but didn’t have a chance to actually check out the town so we decided to take this opportunity. The core of the historic downtown is the court house square (it’s actually an octagon). The park area around the court house is used for the weekly farmer’s market and many special events. We happened to luck into the “Circle City Cruizers 10th Anniversary Show”. A couple hundred of vintage and otherwise, automobiles pulled into the area surrounding the courthouse. Ed had a great time wandering around looking at the old cars and coveting a 1965 Shelby Cobra. Zaph had a great time meeting other dogs and getting pets from lots of people — I was happy looking at the “pretty cars”. Goderich also has done a great job creating parks along the lake including a dog beach.

About 30 minutes south of Goderich on Lake Huron is the town of Bayfield. More great beaches, a nice harbour with a fish store (we got some really good smoked trout there) and a quaint downtown with some incredible boutiques. If you’ve never been to Bayfield or Goderich I thinks it’s certainly worth the trip.

There were lots of sailboats parked at one of the yacht clubs near Bayfield.

The waves sure are big here!

Sailing out of the harbour at Bayfield.

There are some wooden looking people in Bayfield.

Downtown Bayfield.

Some good looking vegetables at the Goderich farmers market.

The engine was actually a barbeque for a fast food stand.

The car show.

The 1965 Shelby Cobra --- Ed says "I want... I want... I want..."

We heard this car long before we saw it .... a supercharged 1970 'cuda

Nice stacks! The paint job was pretty awesome.

The was a real beauty.

A Duesenberg.
